Can I switch to a different visa in Thailand if my non-O extension has expired and I don't have 400k in the bank?

With the new covid extensions not applicable to non-o (multi) anymore... I used up my 60day extension before the amnesty started. I don't have 400k in bank. Can I switch to a different visa within the country ( b or ed?) and if so... which one and how much time time do I have before my covid extension expires for me on mar 22? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual seeks advice on switching from a Non-O visa following the end of a COVID extension, facing concerns about not having sufficient funds. Responses indicate that switching visas within Thailand may not be possible and suggest consulting the local immigration office for accurate guidance due to the lack of clarity on new rules.

What are the new rules? We did Covid extension a few days ago, paid for it, etc etc. But they stamped our passports stating we need to come back in 2 weeks. (In Chiang Mai).

What is changing? Any source please? It's a bit worrying.

this is correct way already, Chiang mai immigration, they separate the 60 days Covid extension into 2 times, first stamp you will get just only 15 days first and you have to go back and get the second stamp again for 45 more days so it’s 60 days in total ka

It will answer you're questions.

>We did Covid extension a few days ago,

I have no idea what "a few days ago" mean

@Benjamin *****
We did it on Monday. It was really a bad surprise to have to go back two weeks later but well...

If you applied for it on Monday, you applied for the old "60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19" that is no longer being sold. I never heard of any rejections for this extension of stay, so you should be fine.

you most likely CANNOT switch to anything else inside the country and your best bet would be to exit/re-enter on a visa exempt/tourist visa OR get another Non-O and come back.

With that being said, only the immigration office you deal with will have the answers. SO that's who you need to be talking to. It is not that we don't want to give you the answer it's that there is NO track record of anyone doing anything on this new covid program

thanks for the input.

The new rules suggest not...as you had a Non O visa before going on COVID extensions.... but we await reports of actual experiences of members.

The only way to really know is ask your local Thai Immigration Office.
