Hi! I'm currently on an ED visa through Hand to Hand combat.. however, I may have landed a job teaching, in which they said they would process my work permit /Non B visa if they hire me.. my question is, if I get hired, and something should go awry and and I lose the job (somehow) .. I heard you have to exit the country immediately (?) .. do you know if I could revert back to doing Hand to Hand combat /Ed visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is currently on an ED visa for martial arts training and may receive a job offer that includes a Non-B visa and work permit processing. They seek clarification on whether they can revert back to their ED visa if they lose the new job and work permit. A comment indicates that those on a yearly Non-B visa can remain in the country after quitting their job, but the individual is specifically inquiring about returning to the ED visa status.

I just saw your post below (ust an FYI: for anyone on a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa.

It does not matter if you quit your job and cancel your work permit when you are on this type of visa. You are free to stay 90 days at a time for the validity of the visa no matter if you're working or not.)

So I guess my question would only be regarding reverting back to ED Visa.. thanks!

Confused, WP is a booklet that allows you to work as foreigner and is 1 year valid. The Non Immigrant B visa from surrounding countries will give you 90 days Admitted to Stay, this stay can be Extended with 1 year with application at Immigration Office.

@Robert ******
Thank you! So, with the extension, you in essence are getting 2yrs ? (or am I getting confused between the work permit and the visa?) lol.. sorry for all the questions
Robert *******
Nearly there. The Work Permit is for 1 year. The Extension of Stay is 1 year ADDED to your Admitted to Stay. Correct with if you loose your job, you loose the Extension of Stay on same day.

So...let me see if I understand.. the work permit/Non B visa is for 90 days only, from which you apply for an extension of stay which turns it into 1yr (?) but you still are doing 90 day reporting. If the job is lost, you have to cancel the extension. (correct?)

I processed my ED visa while here in Thailand, leaving the country to activate it after it was processed.. I'm thinking perhaps I may be able to do that again (hypothetically if I get hired and then am out of a job after)

I'm glad it is all so clear cut (*sarcasm*)

The Extension of Stay based on working is for 1 year, you need for this several papers from your employer. It is not the same as a 90 day report.

With the extension, you do the 90 day reporting. If you lose your job, you have to cancel your extension of stay. Do you have to apply for an ED visa outside of the country? If so, then you would have to leave. When you cancel your extension, you can get some time to leave maybe a week. I am not sure. I was granted 3 extra days.

ok.. is that (extension) what happens when you do your 90 day reporting up to 3 times giving you 1 year, like with the ED visa ?

When you come into the country for work, you get a 90 day business visa. Afterwards, you would either have to leave and get a new visa or do the paper work for an extension of stay.

sorry, I'm not sure if I followed what you were saying (?)

If you are teaching, I would guess you would eventually transfer to an extension of stay instead of going in and out to pick up a new visa. If you lose your job, your work permit gets cancelled and you have to go cancel your extension of stay.
