Is it possible to convert a Non-b visa to an Ed-Visa without having to leave the country? I won't longer teach in my current school and since I'll be soon job hunting, I'm thinking to master my Thai for some time, untill the situation is back to normality.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of converting a Non-B visa to an Ed-Visa without leaving Thailand is generally not allowed. While you may need to cancel your current Work Permit and inform immigration about the cancellation of your extension of stay, the common procedure has been to exit the country to apply for a new visa. However, under current circumstances, it may be worth checking with your language school and immigration if there's an option for a direct application based on study.

No, you can not convert a non immigrant visa into another non immigrant visa inside the country.

Question is are you still on the 90 days you got on entry with this visa, if so then you can stay until the Admitted until date.

If you have the Extension of Stay permitted up to ../../.. date in your passport, you need after you cancelled your Work Permit, cancel this permitted up to stay at Immigration. In the old days (before this virus) you had to leave the country or apply for a new Extension of Stay and when not approved you got 7 days to leave the country.

You can ask the school and Immigration if it is possible to apply directly after canceling your Extension of Stay for a new Extension of Stay based on study, with the closed borders it might be an option.

Otherwise wait til the borders open again and go for a new visa.
