Can I extend my stay in Thailand if I enter under the visa exemption scheme?

Hi everyone, thanks for accepting my request.

I’m planning to go to Thailand, hopefully, next month. And since I’m a citizen of a country listed in the “visa exemption scheme”, this was my first option; to fly to Thailand with it.

Now, I wonder if it’s possible for me to extend my stay / visa, when I’m there? And would I be able to extend it for few months?

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
As a citizen of a country under the visa exemption scheme, you can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 45 days. You can apply for a one-time extension of 30 days at the immigration office. However, there may be additional options available depending on the current regulations.

you will get stamped in for 45 days on the visa exempt entry program now (it was increased from 30 to offset the quarantine time you do)

AND

You can get a 30 day extension at the immigration office ONCE. That's it unless they still have the 60 day covid extension program running once you get here

thank you for this! 🙏 so, I could only have a maximum stay of 75 days, correct? (unless they still have the 60-day program).

oh, I've also heard about a Special Tourist Visa (STV), which tbh not come cheap. can I apply for this type of visa, when I'm there?

No you can not. It is a badly developed visa, and one I do not recommend most people to use to enter Thailand.
