If dtv is approved, say I stay in Thailand for 180 days and get out. Will I have to apply for extension or can I just go back in using the same visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If your DTV visa is approved, you can leave Thailand after staying for 180 days and then re-enter using the same visa. Each entry allows you to receive a new stamp for an additional 180 days, so there is no need for an extension. However, it's generally discouraged to seek extensions, as immigration may create obstacles.

Each entry will get you a fresh stamp for 180 days.

Don’t bother trying to get an extension. Immigration don’t want to do them and will generally put up any barrier to do so that they can.
