Can I re-enter Thailand on a DTV visa after completing a short-term course?

To those on a DTV visa doing a soft power course: is there a chance they won’t let you use your DTV to get back into Thailand once your course has finished? (My cooking course is only 6 months long). Thanks 🙏

@ANONYMOUS MEMBER Yes there's always a chance they may cancel your visa

@Phil *****
pardon me but...

There's absolutely NO proof of Thai Immigration cancelling the DTV visa... It's ISSUED FOR 5 years.

You seem to further fear mongering vs reality.

There is no requirement to book further courses. Or appointments if a medical or dental DTV.

No

Why do people worry about these things, you have been granted a 5 year visa that allows multiple entries, come as go as you please.

As long as you have not broken any Thai laws, been arrested before, got a criminal record etc then nothing to be worried about, just live your life 🤷🏾‍♀️

@John ********
You refer to arrest, prosecution and conviction in Thailand only since the DTV was granted?

what if you have been arrested before?

Just buy another course to be safe, that’s what I do with Muay Thai.

But the reality is I’ve never been asked to prove I’ve continued classes nor have I heard of anyone else being asked

Got mine with 6 months MT course August 24. Three entries no questions asked.

There are no entry requirements for DTV holders. All entries are at the discretion of the IO.

Your second sentence is irrelevant. A veiled threat with no justification.

at every border crossing entry is at the discretion of the IO, just a fact of life.

You omitted to say that a DTV holder entering Thailand with a non-current course is on equal footing with the holder of any other visa.

so no way to know if there will be issues? I thought maybe others might be able to share their experiences

Anonymous participant there's no reports of being DENIED entry... period 🩸 Rare but possible questions about what you are doing, are you enjoying your workcation or Soft Power activity? Etc.
Calvin *********
Anonymous participant whether they ask you or not just comply with the visa's initial requirements regardless. Re-take another class or course especially if you plan on staying a year or more. Its a very simple, affordable bare minimum to be granted an entire 5 year visa.

@Calvin ********
Do you know what the initial requirements were? There’s no number of lessons, length of course or number of appointments (medical/dental) published.

ok but then I do need to factor in 5 years of courses into living costs.. and it’s gonna get old having to attend courses the entire 5 year duration

Anonymous participant i don't have experience but I asked two agencies and they both said no. I've heard from others on here that once you get the visa it doesn't specify if you got it through classes or workcation. But as always this is Thailand so no one knows the future!

If you search 'entered' in this page I'm sure lots of people have written 'entered for the second/third/fourth' time so maybe some of them have the experience you're looking for
Victoria ********
The agencies said no you don't need to book more lessons to continue entering, just to clarify

@Victoria *******
Please don't trust them. Agencies are making money... They are plenty of stories here in Thailand that would suggest they aren't the best source of information and usually the ones making money again when it comes to re-entry/visas issues. The more accurate answer to the Ops question is: We don't know what could happen in the future...

thank you 🙏

Anonymous participant whilst there are no entry requirements for a DTV holder every entry regardless of visa type or visa exempt is at the discretion of an Immigration Officer.

sure but I’m asking for people’s experiences

Anonymous participant Up to now no reports of anyone being refusd entry. A gym owner said some of his students asked questions but allowed in. That is he most I have ever seen posted.
