Can I travel out of Thailand with a DTV visa without issues, and what happens after the first 6 months?

I got my dtv soft power a couple months ago, I’m planning a short trip out the country and I was wondering if I’ll be able to get in no problem.

Along with this I was wondering what I need to do after the first 6 months are over( my trip would be before the 6 months ). I could be wrong but do I need updated documents once the initial 180 days are over and I fly out and back into Thailand

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the implications of traveling outside Thailand on a DTV visa and the requirements for reentry after the initial six-month period. Responses indicate that travelers with a valid DTV should not encounter issues upon return, as long as they present their visa. Upon reentry, they will typically receive a new 180-day stamp. It's also suggested to have proof of course enrollment ready, especially when entering through specific locations like Chiang Mai. Additional comments discuss the necessity of continuing the soft power course, clarifying that it is only required for the first six months, and provide reassurance regarding conditions related to visa cancellation.

Sorry may I add to this as I've a question...... Do you need to continue with soft power course the whole 5 years or just the first 6 months?

You don't have a workation DTV either unless it says on it

That's not true. I have a friend who got his through the Washington DC embassy/consulate and his "Remarks" field is empty. He has a Remote Worker DTV like myself. Mine says remote worker.

@Robert **********
Then he has a DTV just like me. 👍

Yours says "Remote Worker" in the comment field no? His doesn't. It is blank. He has a Workation DTV but there is no mention of the type of DTV he has on his VISA.

That's not my DTV, mine says Employment Prohibited in the remarks like the majority of DTVs. So nearly all of them are the same.

Just the first 6 months.

Considering you are telling the Thai govt that you need the visa so you can participate in the soft power, they could say you are in violation of the terms of your visa if you no longer are in the course or going for care. When the IO asks, what do you do? Lie to them and hope nothing happens?

@Robert **********
If they start getting more strict I will book a couple of dental appointments to show. The vast majority are just getting stamped in. Soon there will be so many DTV holders it will be impossible to check all of them even if they wanted to.

@Peter ********
Don't count on it

@Robert **********
Booking a couple of dental appointments isn't a big deal. Relax you will be fine.

Getting a dental appt is the easy part. I was talking about checking all the DTV holders. I am not worried. I don't have a soft DTV.

Your visa is valid for 5 years with multiple entries. You can fly into thailand once or 100 times, it doesn't matter. Every time you enter thailand, you're stamped in for 180 days. As long as you don't stay longer than that, you don't need to do anything.

When you return from your trip you will be given a fresh 180-day stamp. Best to have evidence of your course enrolment to hand on arrival just in case of being asked, especially if entering via Chiang Mai. Overwhelming majority have no issue reentering.,

You will be fine don't worry just show your visa.
