Can I obtain a non-B work visa in Savannakhet after canceling my student visa in Thailand?

Hello,

I am currently on a student Thai language visa. I got a new job so I'm planning to go to savannakhet to get a nonB work visa then come back. I know I need to cancel my current visa before I leave and set the dates accordingly, so I will do that before I go to Laos (it is a legit Thai language visa, so I have proof I am a student there).

I've been in Thailand since July, so about 8/9 months. Originally entered with tourist visa issued in my home country (Canada, and then converted to a student Thai language visa with Payap uni in CM)

This is still allowed at Savannakhet right? Even coming from a student visa?

The school is doing the paperwork for the application. Do I need any bank statements or anything out of the ordinary to get this done. Anything else I should bring?

I can cross over to Laos on a Sunday to be at Thai embassy early Monday morning?

Thanks everyone in advance πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a student Thai language visa and intends to travel to Savannakhet to apply for a non-B work visa after canceling their current visa. They seek confirmation about the process and requirements for obtaining the non-B visa, and whether they can apply immediately after cancelation. Commenters clarify that embassies do not handle visa conversions, advising that the user will not have an active visa while in Laos but can apply for the non-B visa upon returning.

Visa conversion?? What's that? But if anything is converted, it isn't outside of Thailand. There you are without a visa?

sorry my mistake. You are right. No conversion. Just applying for a nonB work visa.

Embassies don't do visa conversions. But that's oaky because you're not converting any visa. You won't have a visa when you go to Laos because you already cancelled your extension. You're just applying for a non-B visa.

thank you, yes, I edited it. Not converting. Cancelling old visa and applying for a nonB work visa.

look at the requirements on the embassy website and bring those.
