I have searched the group but not getting the info I need. Some help will be appreciated regarding non-b visa.

1. I have a work permit and live in Thailand. (I’m South African)

2. I am currently on a guardian visa that is about to expire.

3. I’ve been told I should convert to a non-b visa and have to leave the country to apply.

Can I get a non-B without leaving Thailand? If so, how? Or with what visa agent?

If I definitely have to leave the country, is Laos the best option and with city? Vientiane or Savannakhet?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information about converting their guardian visa to a non-B visa while currently living in Thailand. They express the difficulty in finding relevant information and seek advice on whether an in-country conversion is possible or if they need to travel to Laos for the application process.

As

said you’ll almost certainly find your employer will not be able to provide the paperwork needed for an in country conversion. Paperwork for an application in a consulate abroad is just way easier.

You will almost certainly have to leave the country to apply for a non-B. Most companies cannot provide the large amount of paperwork required to do a conversion without leaving.
