Hi Guys

Advice needed.

After few years on a non-b if I cancel visa and work permit with the idea of leaving Thailand eventually but wanna hang out for a little longer to travel, if I go and get 2 months tourist visa either in Laos or KL, do you think I might get rejected or should be ok?

Sorry if the the answer is obvious, but I have heard everything, so I thought of asking here

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they can apply for a 2-month tourist visa after canceling their non-b visa and work permit while in Thailand. Several comments suggest that after canceling the work permit and extension of stay, the user should be able to apply for a tourist visa without issues. Some recommend opting for border runs to extend their stay, while others advise checking with the embassy for specific eligibility.

You have several good suggestions. If I were you I would follow the experienced advice of Amornrat.

"I would VOID WP n extension and just do one or two border run, that gives you up to 4 month, without dealing with any Thai Embassy or Thai Consulate. They have become very unpredictable."

Good luck...

The only one who can answer your question is the officer at embassy/consulate when you apply for your visa.

After a few years, you cancel your Work Permit at the Ministry of Labor, with those documents you visit IF you have an Extension of Stay the Immigration Office to cancel this permitted to stay period.

Then you leave the country, if you like to spend some touristic time, you can apply for the Tourist Visa and return.

If you have a valid visa and make border runs every 90 days, you can stay till the Admitted until date stamped in your passport and keep on using the visa until the valid until date on the visa.

It was and it is clear, but I have some difficulties with my hardware, what ever I ask the answer is snow next week

I can not tell you what the decision is in the next week from an employee at a Thai Consulate.

Thanks Robert, I think my enquiry wasn't clear. I am clear on what to do but I wonder:

Is there any chance that my tourist visa application in Vientiane or KL will get rejected after having been in Thailand few years on a Non-B?
