TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the expiration of their Non-O visa on December 26, due to not meeting the 800,000 THB financial requirement for extension. They plan to leave Thailand for Malaysia and re-enter to obtain a tourist visa. Comments suggest that without a re-entry permit, the Non-O visa will expire upon departure, necessitating the application for a tourist visa. Several users recommend visiting an agent to facilitate the visa process and confirm details regarding eligibility for a new Non-O visa after returning to Thailand.

You don’t get a visa, you only get visa excempt if crossing into Thailand without a visa.

Unless you have re-entry permit on your visa, when you leave and come back it would automatically cancel your non-o anyway as you wouldnt have the permission to re-enter the country on that visa. Therefore, they would only give you a tourist visa anyway so you dont need to worry. If you have a re-entry permit then as above, speak with an agent

Go visit an agent with a friend at immigration in a mountain area, they are always looking to help out a grandpa for a small fee.

From my understanding, he went to immigration to get a one year extension but since he didn't keep the 800k for two months after the visa, immigration would not extend the visa. Immigration advised him to leave Thailand and re-enter on a tourist visa do he could start over with a 3 month Non O and then a one year extension.

As long as he has the 800k in his bank, he could do this himself, no agent needed.

@Ken **********
Question: which bank? An account in thai bank or in his country is ok?

No problem if you are on a Non-Immigrant-Visa... or if you use an agent.

I will try by myself. I have visa O retired and in Thaïland since 2 weeks.

Thanks!

@Pierre ********
if he is applying within Thailand, the 800k must be in a Thai bank.

We always come back to the same problem: how to open an account in Thaïland ?

Your old visa will die when you leave Thailand.

Get an agent cheaper than visa run..

@Martyn **********
The visa can only be cancelled by leaving the country. A agent wont be able to help cancel the visa without you physically leaving the country.
Martyn ***********
@CjandBrigitte *********
but his goal isn't to cancel a visa, its to stay in Thailand? An agent can helpbget the non O converted without money..
CjandBrigitte **********
@Martyn **********
26 December when the visa expires immigration will be closed. So if you wait until they open you will be on overstay. Safest, do the border bounce, that cancels the visa and then return and you will then be stamped in on a 60 day tourist visa.

@CjandBrigitte *********
just to clarify, when re-entering, that isn’t a tourist visa, but visa exemption. To get a tourist visa, you have to apply for it via the embassy.

@John ******
Correct

If you don't have a re-entry permit leaving Thailand will cancel your Non-O.
