Hi, I am currently on a 60 day tourist visa that will end on the 24th of November. Even though I have not done my 30 day extension is it possible to get the 60 day covid extension? I've heard that they may be reluctant to issue the 60 day without me first extending by 30 days but by this time the covid extension would come to an end. Has anyone had any experience of this? I will be doing it in Samui. I hope this makes sense and any help is appreciated ππ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of obtaining a 60-day Covid extension without first securing a 30-day extension on your tourist visa in Thailand largely depends on the immigration office you visit. Some offices may allow this conversion directly while others might require you to complete the 30-day extension first. It's advisable to visit your local immigration office in Samui to confirm the current policy and get accurate guidance.
Last year I went for my +30 on my TR60 and the immigration asked if I wanted a 60 Covid extension instead. I would say itβs possible but where you go and who you get will lie the answer.
Assuming you can get an extension 30 days before the expiration (45 days in some places), you could get the 30 day extension now, which would give you 30 days past Nov 24, then on the 24th, or earlier if allowed, apply for the covid extension before the 26th. Make sense? That would give you another 90 days. Anyone disagree?
- haven't heard that one, always thought that's the case for a new visa, not extensions. It's still a way to get extended as I wrote, maybe just less time, if she has to do the 30 day first.
Fully depends on which immigration office you use. Some have allowed immediate conversion to covid extension, but many require that you use up the 30 day extension first. You can go into your local office now and find out for sure
