I am sure this has been asked many times before, but I have a headache trying to find it right now so I am just going to ask again.

I entered on 45 Day Visa Exemption from the US with a US Passport, It expires on the 6th of July. Can I do the Covid Extension on this Entry Stamp and if so, how, and where is the best place on Koh Samui? Also would it be best to do it on Monday the 5th or is that too risky considering I'd want to reschedule my flights before then, is it instant?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about obtaining a Covid extension for their 45-Day Visa Exemption, which was set to expire on July 6th, while seeking advice on the best immigration office in Koh Samui. Responses indicated that they could apply for a 30-day regular extension first, which is commonly required to qualify for the 60-day Covid extension. It was suggested to visit the immigration office in Surat Thani or Samui, and that applying just before the expiration date might be risky, but the 30-day extension could be approved the same day.

>Can I do the Covid Extension

MOST immigration offices want a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism acquired before a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

>d where is the best place on Koh Samui?

You are in Surat Thani. There are two immigration offices, one in Surat Thani Muang, and one on Samui.

. I do not know what services the office on Samui offer.

You should be able to purchase the 30 day extension of stay based on tourism (or a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19) when you have 30 days or less remaining on your "admitted to" stamp.

> is it instant?

You will get the extension of stay based on tourism the same day, and you should get an "under consideration" stamp for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, requiring you to return in about one or two weeks (immigration office specific).

Some offices make you get the 30 day 'regular' extension FIRST before they let you apply for the 60 day covid extension.
