TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of obtaining a 60-day COVID extension at Muang Thong Thani Immigration for those holding a 60-day Tourist Visa (TR visa). Many comments suggest that, contrary to expectations, immigration offices in various locations are currently issuing only a 30-day extension, after which applicants may request the COVID extension. A few users reported differing experiences in Chiang Mai, where some were able to bypass the initial 30-day extension requirement. This inconsistency highlights the unpredictable nature of visa application processes in Thailand.

Kindly show a photo of your initial TR visa and its immediate 60-day COVID extension stamp.

What I found out last year in Thailand is that a thin passport will run out of pages quickly as IO keeps applying these big and redundant stamps liberally on every page.

The "under consideration" stamp does not specify if the extension is for 30 or 60 days in English.

Plus, I wonder why the immediate "consideration" stamp was not placed next to the original TR stamp on page #10 for the sake of convenience.

Cause page 11 is fully occupied by the visa sticker ;-). And, as for the regular 30 day extension, there would not be any "under consideration" at all. A regular 30 day TR extension they would always have given straight away. Also, the forms I filled out were for COVID extension, not regular TR extension. But again, different Immigration Offices handle this differently throughout the country. This is the Chiang Mai way of last week - who knows what and where they will do next week or some where else. TiT - this is Thailand.

The immigration of Sri Racha said I will only get the 30 days. Because the visa is not expired yet. The Pattaya Immigtation said I have to apply first for the 30 days and then I could apply for another 60 days on Covid extension.

Many people said on FB: It is possible to get the 60 days covid extension also with the 60 days tourist visa. But "could/should" is not real. This is why I asked here for people which really GOT it. Congrats to Chiang Mai 😊

In Chiang Mai 4 days ago, no need to use the regular 30-day extension, first. Straight from initial TR stamp to 60-day extension (however, playing the 15 day under consideration game). I am always baffled, how completely different things are handled between different offices or even officers of the very same organization (that should be supposed to apply the same set of rules for everybody).

Quite annoying, how things are handled so differently all the time. The 30 day extension you got stamped in straight away, though, right? No "under consideration"?

Frank-Steven Eichholtz. The 30 day TR extension is a completely different extension to the covid extension.

Then you would have to fly here twice, cause of the under consideration, which requires you to come back to the same office after 15 days.

No one in Bangkok did I can assure you of that. They are crazy hard about people who entered on tourist visa and/or visa exempt entries recently getting the 'regular' 30 day extension BEFORE they're allowed to apply for a 60 day covid extension

Same here. Not giving more than 30 day extension unlike what was said to be at Thai Embassy in Ottawa.

Are you aware that the Embassy staff and the Immigration staff are totally different and each has their own rules and advice. No surprize that Immigration act different to the advice you got fro, the embassy.
