I've had a bit of confusion over this myself so would love to hear from anyone that has written information regarding staying in the same country you have applied from while your visa is processing (linked sources only please, not ones opinion).
I was under the impression you had to stay in the same country you applied from, but the gym I am getting paperwork from told me I can leave (just not enter Thailand) so I called the Thai Embassy in Canberra today and they said that it is okay to leave the country.
This was obviously all verbal so would love to read information on this before I risk having my application canceled
TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around whether applicants must remain in the same country where they applied for a Thai visa while their application is being processed. Various community comments reflect differing opinions. Some highlight that staying in the application country is crucial to avoid cancellation, while others, including a representative from the Thai Embassy, suggested that leaving is permissible as long as one does not enter Thailand. Official guidance from the Thai Embassy indicates that applicants must reside in the UK/Ireland while applying, emphasizing the risk of cancellation if this requirement is not met.
