TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV visa in Hanoi and is concerned about whether they need to stay in Vietnam during the processing time, as they have a flight scheduled to Korea. Community responses generally recommend remaining in Vietnam until the visa is approved, as additional information or an interview may be requested. It's noted that the DTV visa is now issued as a PDF file, not a physical sticker, which can be printed and shown at immigration.

How do some people think its a good idea to fly to a country, apply for a DTV and then book a flight out 8 days later. Incredible really.. these are the type of people to comment: OMG I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT AND THEY REJECTED MY VISA

Anonymous participant 571 why are you so angry 😂. Who hurt you lol …. If you do your research, you’ll see that in Hanoi the timeframe is usually 3 to 7 days so booking a flight eight days later was a risk I was willing to take. I could always change my flight which I was planning to do, but my Visa got approved within the eight days.

You don’t need to stay in Vietnam -once approved, the DTV is emailed to you (no more passport stickers). Just print it out and show it at immigration. The tricky part is delays if they ask for extra docs

yeah I sent out an email and they notified me that I was allowed to leave Vietnam while my application was processing, Just not enter Thailand until the Visa got approved. they had proof that I was in Vietnam while I did the application and they said that’s more than enough.

this is true, unless they ask for proof of locatio again n or an in person interview. If that happens OP will lose his application and has to start over.

Send them an email asking politely for an update. Include your file number, name and passport number. Usually they reply in the afternoon.

Yes you should remain in Vietnam until the process completes, they can ask for proof you are still in the country or even invite you for an interview. You can't get a sticker in your passport, PDF only, which you print out and show immigration along with your passport

They won't ask you for an interview in Vietnam. At a certain point you are simply waiting. As long as you don't enter Thailand until you receive your visa it's OK

Dtv visa is a pdf file. Not a physical sticker.

It's recommended that you stay in the country you apply in case they request more info (e.g., full pages of passport) or an interview.

recommended is not the right term, it is forbidden to leave the country you have applied for your visa at. Leaving the country is a reason to can get your application denied.
