Hi everyone. I have recently received a METV and need some advice on my proposed plan. I couldn't get into the country any earlier so have lost a couple of weeks. As such I was wondering if I leave the country before the METV expires, am I still allowed to stay for 60 days?

Example itinerary as follows:

August 7: Visa approved (expires 6 Feb 2024)

August 27: Arrive in Thailand. Get a 60-day stamp. (60 days expires 25 Oct)

October 24: [1st Extention] Extend for another 30 days. (30 days expires 22 Nov)

November 21: [1st Visa Run] Leave Thailand

November 24: Return to get a new 60-day stamp. (new stamp expires 22 Jan)

January 20: [2nd Visa Run] Leave Thailand

January 25: Return to get a new 60-day stamp. (new stamp expires 24 Mar)

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the timeline for staying in Thailand under a METV after receiving approvals and extensions. They present a travel itinerary and seek clarification on staying for 60 days after a visa run, with mentions of visa expiration dates and entry rules.

A related question; Is it necessary to have a ticket out of Thailand within 2 months of arrival? Or is it ok to have it within 3 months (since we are allowed a 30 day extension?)

Great question, I was wondering the same thing... what do I need to supply upon first entry into the country? And is there a definitive list I can find somewhere or do I just be prepared?

So i have ask the Thai embassy here if they accept a onward ticket within 90 days or if they demand within 60, I guess?

again 60 days.

@Jan **********
yes within 60 days of your first arrival... and the day you arrive counts as DAY #1

@James *******
when you enter using a METV, most airlines do not ask for an onward ticket within the 60 days. They only ask passengers who intend a visa-exempt entry

you are confusing a couple different things

it's your AIR CARRIER that usually requires proof of onward travel,

once you land here, only rarely will the officer at passport control as for onward travel when you stamp in

AND

You show onward travel when you BUY the visa in your country

the airline CAN ask for an onward travel proof. Thai Immigration won't be interested in your planned itinerary. Sometimes they only ask "where do you stay?"

As long as your last entry on that visa is on or before the date the VISA expires <-(which you say is 6 Feb 2024) you will get 60 days when you enter.

so you figure it out after you get here about the bounces and 30 day extensions, it's ONLY the last entry you have to do before the visa runs out that matters

thanks Tod. Also is it true there’s a chance I can extend for another 30 days before the 24 mar? And then go home? I read it somewhere but wasn’t sure if it was possible.

you can get one 30 day extension on ANY of the 60 day entry stamps
