Hello im an Australian citizen holding an Australian passport, how strict is the Perth Embassy issuing METV if you have a few back to back 30 day visa exempt stamped within this year, I've never stayed the full 30 days just a week or 2 then left for travel or work purposes. Any advise would be so appreciated .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Perth Embassy may issue the METV if all requirements are met, despite previous short stays on a visa exemption. However, the main concerns arise when entering Thailand, as immigration officers may scrutinize past visits to assess whether they indicate long-term residency rather than tourism. Having proper documentation such as accommodation, onward travel, and sufficient cash is recommended for smoother entry.

I've had 4 metv back to back from Perth and never had any issues. The current one expires in Oct. However with a bit of time up my sleeve I've decided to apply for a non o a visa so hopefully I'll have that next week.

If you meet all the requirements of the METV then it will be issued with no problems (I've had many from Australia back to back), however as suggested before, any issue you will face will likely come on entry into Thailand.

The IO may assess your previous stays/visits as living here and not as genuine tourist. I've been questioned 3 times on METV, only in the last 12 months, but never denied.

Have all your proofs, accommodation, onward travel and CASH on you in case your questioned by IO on arrival.

Just know it's getting harder and harder, I've personally seen some tourists refused entry on my multiple trips, and read about many more.

Good luck.

Whilst they may ask questions, they may not.

The main problem will lie with the I.O. when you get here. They decide at the end of the day.
