Hi. My tourist visa stamp is for 10 June, is it okay if I leave mid-morning on the 10th or would that be considered an overstay?
Answer summary
You can safely leave Thailand anytime on June 10 before 11:59 PM if your tourist visa stamp indicates that day. Many community members confirmed that as long as you clear immigration before midnight, it's not considered an overstay. Various examples were shared, affirming that mid-morning flights on that date are permissible.

Admitted-until 10 June means stamped out by 23:59 on the 10th. Mid-morning on the 10th is fine. Wheels-up after midnight is not, even if you queued at 11pm. Immigration's stamp-out time is the clock, not the flight. I'm David. I built Stretch to treat that stamp date as a hard exit so this is not a 1am surprise: https://doastretch.com/visa/

Exactly, it's all about when you get your exit stamp. As long as immigration clears you before midnight on the 10th, mid-morning flights are totally safe. Thanks for making it clear with Stretch!

Don't see the date count the days to 10 June it should be 30 by the date or earlier as some calendars have 31st....date.

You can, but I prefer a buffer of time, if you or the flight gets delayed.

Question: is mid-morning 10 June still June? When you found the answer to this you will find the clear answer to your question 😉.

I little side hint: Cambodia is not a hotel with check in/out on same day 😅

As long as you get through immigration by 11.59pm on June 10, you have not over stayed. Of course you must have a boarding pass for a flight out of the country within a reasonable time frame.

Gotta be gone by midnight on the final day of the visa.

your visa is valid until June 10th 11:59pm.

Fun fact: I once got an EU visa for my thai girlfriend to visit me in Munich. She beseeched ma to book her the Thai Airways flight leaving Bangkok at 00:50 am on the first day of the visa‘s validity. She wasn‘t allowed past the passport controls before midnight. But she made her plane. ;)

Yep 👍

If it says "until June 10" = you can leave anytime June 10 before 11:59pm.

Mid-morning flight = no overstay.

Overstay only starts 12:00am June 11.

Hans-Victor Noy his post was ironic. It is a fact that the 10th of June is not ending before midnight.

The question itself is dumb as long as the TO isn't able to read a clock. Then, of course, he need external help.

Left Thailand this year on 4th May the day my visa expired. My flight was due to leave at 2am ‘the next day’. I checked in and passed through immigration at 11.50pm on the 4th with 10 minutes to spare. Nothing said

David Cross I think the problem with people who live by "bending rules" is: they do not grasp that sticking to the rules, no matter "how close to fail" is still "inside of the rules".

For example in Tennis: if the ball hits the line, it is in. Because that is the rule.

In Basketball, does not matter if ball or player, if it hits the line (or anything outside of course) it is out. Because that is the rule.

I seriously do not know why the original poster asked such a stupid question. He probably was just bored and wanted some attention on FB.

Paul Martinez not really. Due to my original flight being cancelled and rescheduled for 4th May at 9.30 am Emirates changed the day and time 24 hours prior to departure. I would not have chosen such a close call.

In the old days when it was a visa not visa exempt, the tourist visa was valid from date of issue not upon entry which screwed a lot of peeps. There used to be a huge sign on entry to explain it but the fine paying queue on departures was also huge.

Graeme Buxton he's talking about leaving Thailand - NOT validity of a visa.

Petr S. Van Valkenburg that was not a question it was a comment. A rather strange one I think.
Graeme ********

Petr S. Van Valkenburg It used to be a case of working back from the end date of issuance. So anytime from receiving visa to entering was excluded in the bandwith.
Luit *****************
Luit *****************
Graeme Buxton In that old days it was not different from now, the visa validity starts at issue date, mostly for 90 days, but that did not influence the number of days you could stay, that always started upon entry and is reflected in the entry stamp.
Graeme ********
Graeme ********
Luit van der Linde incorrect. Issuance date of whatever duration, let’s say 90 days, was valid from date of issuance from home country Thai Embassy by way of passport page sticker, not from entry to country. So yes entry stamp is valid to exit within the issuance period not 90 days from entry. That was the point of my pointless story to explain the way it used to be. Nowadays it’s a date validation on entry with an ink stamp with exit date stamp, currently 60 days as of yesterday anyway🤷‍♂️
Angelo ***********
Angelo ***********
Graeme Buxton Your pointless story is: it is still the same, and always was that.

The validity of the visa is the period during wich you can enter the country, based on this visa.

The amount of days you can stay is determined by the stamp you get when you enter.

TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS.
