Hi to everyone,

I'm planning to go to Thailand as a tourist between June 20 and August 10.

Will I need a visa? What would be the best/simple option? thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they need a visa for a 51-day stay in Thailand from June 20 to August 10. Comments suggest that travelers from Spain do not require a visa for shorter stays and can receive a free stamp for up to 30 days upon arrival. However, since the intended stay exceeds 30 days, it is recommended to apply for a 60-day tourist visa online at the Thai embassy in Madrid. This option is considered easier and potentially cheaper than extending a 30-day visa exemption.

As said here, a tourist visa is recommended for your stay. (Although you can go on visa exemption as well (even if I miscalculated))

If you stay in Spain as stated on your FB you can apply online for a 60 days tourist visa at the embassy in Madrid here;

🤞🏻Just create a user and upload the required documentation. Normally it’s sufficient with hotel booking for a couple of nights and you have a required return/onward ticket.

This is your best option because it’s cheaper in total and you don’t need to use time at the immigration for an extension or money on a cheap onward ticket within 30 days required for entering on visa exemption.

Best and easiest is to get a 60 day tourist visa. You can enter for 30 days without, but then you need to extend, which is more expensive and a bit of hassle.

i agree that a 60 day tourist visa is less hassle but I do question why it would be cheaper. 60 day visa and a 30 day exempt plus 30 day extension would be about the same price, unless I am mistaken

I guess a regular tourist visa is around € 30-35 (as in Norway). That gives us around 1200 - 1400 thb. An extension is 1900 thb. So it’s not necessarily more expensive but you’ll also need an onward ticket out within 30 days according to formal requirements if you arrive on a 30 days visa exemption.

then you are mistaken.

haha. I am not looking for an argument, just clarification. Details matter.

If those are the dates that you intend being in Thailand (51 days?) then you will need a 60 day visa, apply on line to your local Thai embassy.

If You’re from Spain (or France) you don’t need any visa for your stay. You’ll get a free stamp for up to 30 days upon arrival.

but have to pay 1900B for an Extension which will likely be more than the cost of a 60 day Tourist Visa with no worries about proof of onward travel

Yes you’re right, I misread or thought wrong, (20 July-10 aug). A 60 days tourist visa is therefore recommended, of the reasons you state.
