TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether to apply for a single-entry or multiple-entry tourist visa, given their travel plans to Thailand in May and again in September, intending to stay as long as possible in September. Responses from the community suggest considering the 60-day exemption for visitors from Florida, and highlight the benefits of a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for extended stays.

I am also going in May, leaving for some weeks in July and returning in August this time planning the 60+30. My idea is to use the METV already on the first trip. Seems more sensible and wise but i may be wrong...

I’m just trying to do what I can with the new e visa

Why do you want a tourist visa if you're from Florida? Just show up and get your 60 day exempt. If it changes back to 30, then maybe a tourist visa will help your timing if you're planning to stay longer than 60 days in one stretch.

They are tightening up on boarder runs and 60 day exemptions, with a 6 month 60 day tourist visa you are guaranteed to get back into Thailand.

think you'll find they are only tightening on those who are abusing...

exactly if you have the right visa why extend it ,do a boarder run then say for 2 days job done.

A METV is valid for 6 months from issue. On each entry you’d get 60 days and can extend once for 30 days more at a local immigration office.

In theory one would get you to September but seeing as you said you want to maximise your time from September you might want to enter exempt (if applicable) or with a single entry tourist visa if not and get the METV for September.

don't bother getting an extension on a multiple entry tourist visa it is valid for 6 months just do a boarder run every 60 days and you will get another 60 days each time ,then if you want to stay longer you can do a boarder run a few days before the 6 months is up and you will get another 60 days taking it to 8 months ,then you can get an extension if required to 9 months.

Sometimes it’s cheaper to extend than bounce. The option is there.

yes I understand that but as they are tightening up I would keep the extension for at the end ,with a METV you will be allowed back you are not getting 60 day exemptions but a 60 day visa, you will have to do a boarder run after the extension anyway.

No one is tightening up on extensions. For 99.9999% of people if you can get in you can get an extension. It’s the getting in that’s getting tighter.
