TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus from the community is that individuals cannot obtain a re-entry permit while on a COVID extension visa, as these extensions are granted under the premise that individuals cannot leave the country. If someone leaves Thailand on a COVID extension, they will typically not be allowed to return on the same visa and may have to wait a minimum of 30 days before they can apply for a tourist visa. It's generally advised to check directly with immigration or consider alternative travel options.

No as covid extension is only issued as you can not leave Thailand so would be invalid if you try come back in on it

You are getting a covid extension because supposedly you can't go home...then wonder if they will let you re enter on the same covid extension???? šŸ˜‚ Sure why not go for it... šŸ˜‚ Actually you could just go to immigration to try to buy that re entry permit and see what happens
Astrid **********
An extension is not a visa, so no re-entry permit possible. Just leave and come back in. Easier

Was at our local immigration today they said anyone who leaves on a COVID extension will need to wait min 30 days to get back on a tourist visa

I'm not on a covid extension, im on a non o visa, I went with a freind who does not speak the best english, he was on a non b for years and went to covid extensions since last year around march, he has no choice but to leave as they will not give him a covid extension before the 25th , his business is gone basically , no thai staff with social so he cant do much but leave and try to come back after 30 days I was told, if he trys to come back with lots of covid extension he was told he needs to wait min 30 days , they are watching he was told

Sorry but thatā€™s absolutely the wrong info that you heard. There is nothing stopping anyone from exiting Thailand and returning the same day (albeit they need ThailandPass etc).

if you have 1.5 years covid extension there is, unless you work at thai immigration then Im going with the guy who works there šŸ™‚ p.s thai pass takes 5-7 days right now so its defo not possible
Stuart *********
Whatever. You know best.

The guy who works at immigration knows best I think šŸ™‚

There has never been any requirement to stay out of Thailand for x amount of time before returning (except being banned for overstay). The guy in immigration is talking out of his arse. But you can believe him if you like. Your call.

since they changed the covid extensions the other week, now anyone who has went from a non b to covid extension and wants to get another covid extension cant, they have to go back to the visa they entered thailand on, as no borders have been open since. so if you are one of these then they are watching for people who are going to say go to another country and go back on a tourist visa or visa on arrival , he said if its less than 30 days, then you will not be granted entry, this was the conversation me and one other had with 2 immigration officers over a 30 min period, this is my experience yesterday, is this group not about shareing experiences or is it for the admin to question everyone and using things like talking out of his ass when someone shares their experience? if this saves some people problems in the future then im happy I shared my experience , have a great day

@Aron *********
ok. Letā€™s wait and see if thereā€™s any posts from people denied entry for being out of Thailand less than 30 days. Donā€™t hold your breath.

and only for a tourist visa, so one can travel back in on an 30 day free stamp aka Exemption with staying less then 30 days outside? Asking since the Exemption is not called a visa . . .

Contact Cambodia embassy in Thailand via email. It will take a few days to get a reply but they will answer your questions. Thai embassy in Cambodia will reply as well quickly. I just emailed them and also contacted Cambodia embassy on FB messenger. Make questions simple and clear.

But do know you cannot get a rentry stamp from a covid visa.... Hopefully this helps

not sure about that I was only told about people had too many COVID extensions can't just say go to Cambodia for a week and try to get back in . There needs to be min 30 days outside Thailand
Astrid **********
@Aron *********
a Tourist Exemption (30 free day stamp on arrival) is not called a visa. You say Tourist Visa so now curious if this the same exit-re-entry rule.

Am trying to find out if there is a way around the 30 days out of Thailand for a tourist, before returning (not for me, just researching for others), hence my question for the Exemption

@Aron *********
you can go out a come back in less than 30days as long as itā€™s not a tourist visa
Aron **********
@Jo *********
I know you can come back on a Non O , thats about it not sure about other visa's

I left in July (for UK) and returned here in December 2021.

Have a Non O retirement visa with multiple re entry valid until July 2022.

Came in on ā€˜test & goā€™ (meeting all the usual requirements for Thailand Pass) and was stamped back in on my Non O without an issue.

Hope that helps someone.

@Mark ******
that's pretty normal procedure, you have a multiple entry visa. Though of no valid info for the opps question which is regarding a COVID extension.

This C-extension is a permission to stay extension, because can not fly out due to COVID but want to fly out and re-enter šŸ™ˆ it's not a visa
Stuart *********
You canā€™t get a reentry permit off a covid extension. That extension is ā€œbecause you canā€™t leaveā€

thats what i thought the covid extension was for as well šŸ™‚
