Hello, I'm French under visa exemption due to Covid and I will marry a Thai girl next week. Is there any chance I can get a marriage visa before the 31 July? I don't have yet the 400,000 THB in bank but I can have it in one month. Thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is a French citizen on a visa exemption due to Covid, planning to marry a Thai citizen soon. They are seeking advice on obtaining a marriage visa before the end of July, despite not having the required 400,000 THB in the bank yet. Comments suggest that after marriage, the user can apply for a 60-day family visit extension before the current amnesty runs out. They can then apply for a Non-O visa after transferring the required funds into a Thai bank account.

Okay, first off lets get a couple things straight

AFTER the O/P gets married (which they have NOT done yet) and as things stand right now, they aren't gonna get into Lao to get a Non-O visa from a thai consulate and then get back into thailand, SO let's just take that nonsense off the table.

In order to apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa they need to show the 400K baht was transferred IN to the country in a thai bank account in their name only from abroad BUT there is no amount of time the money has to be in the account <- meaning you can apply for the Non-O as soon as the transfer hits

BUT

In order to apply for a Non-Imm in country visa the application goes under consideration for a period of time (15 to 21 days depending on the immigration office) AND also in order to apply for one you need "Hard stamp" days left on your entry stamp <- meaning you CANNOT apply for it when you're on amnesty.

The ONLY option available to the O/P right now would be to get married (if they can even do that on amnesty) THEN apply for a 60 day visit thai family extension BEFORE amnesty runs out. Once they have that 60 day hard stamp extension they could then apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa by showing they transferred in the 400K baht in a thai bank account in their name only.

That is the only way I know of where the O/P can do it. They go from amnesty to a 60 day visit family extension then to a non-O visa.

Try to get 60 days family visit as soon as you get marriage papers. Maybe this is possible...

You may be able to apply for a 60 day visit family extension after you are married if you can get all the required paperwork together in time to apply for it before the amnesty runs out. No financial requuremrnts. Check with your local immigration office. Not sure if you can then apply the nonO in Thailand or not during the 60 day extension.

Iโ€™ve asked the immigration office for an extension of my non immigrant O / marriage visa a couple months ago, they told me I can not extend this visa....are you sure this is possible? I might have to check again, or another immigration office.....

@Alex *******
you can get a 60 day visit thai family extension based on marriage from almost any entry stamp you have. You're not extending the VISA, you're getting a 60 day visit thai family extension.

An another question, I read that the money should come from abroad. If it's come from a Thai bank would it be valid?
Tod *********
The money for an in country Non-O visa has to show that it was transferred in from overseas, it can't come from inside the country.

@Tod ********
thanks, that's what I read.

for seasoning of money it can come from anywhere but it has to be in an account in your name so you may use other services to transfer it

Thanks for your both answers, my plan was to apply in Laos for a visa based on marriage and then I would had one month to get the money on my Thai bank. As I won't be able to go to Laos I was wondering if the Thai immigration will give the possibility to do it in Thailand...

you are not going to get in to Lao and then back into thailand

No, you need to be on a valid stay of a Visa Exempt Entry, a Tourist Visa or an Extension of Stay based on of theses and have at least 21 days, other offices 15 days left on your valid stay
