Is it possible to get a covid extension if you are on a dependent visa? My partner is going to struggle to have the 500k for a second year visa renewal I just wondered if these can be extended that way. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to get a COVID extension if you are on a dependent visa. Unlike some other visa types, dependent visas do not have financial requirements for extensions. A comment indicates that while your partner may be facing challenges related to financial thresholds for a guardian extension, they can still explore options for COVID extensions which are available for most visa holders.

I’m not sure what visa/extension you are meaning here. A dependant extension has no financial requirements. 500k would indicate a “guardian” extension like a parent of a non Thai child at an international school. You can’t be a dependant of someone on that visa. What visa/extension does your partner hold and what stamp do you currently have? Covid extensions (whilst they’re still being sold) are available for any visa/extension holder (bar the STV so I believe)
there’s always the route of using a visa agent. Not cheap but nowhere near the amount needed for bank deposit. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it, but many people go down that route.
for the moment while they are selling the “Covid” extension then yes it can be. Not a long term solution as no one knows if they’ll extend after May 30th.
ahh ok it doesn’t expire until 31st August but the money needs to be shown for 3 months prior and it’s not ideal to have that amount sat there not using it
no one knows if they will be still selling the “Covid” extension by then, although a best guess is they will be until borders open like they used to. It’s a gamble if you go down that route. Can’t place odds on it from now till August.
