Is covid visa extension still an option? Realistically I can leave back home. Do I have to prove I cannot?
I arrived from the UK with a 60 day tourist Evisa. Already extended once for an additional 30 days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The COVID visa extension option is still available until July 25, but approval is at the discretion of the Immigration Officer. Since you've already extended your visa once, you can apply again for an additional 60 days. While some applicants have been successful, there are reports of denials as well. It's crucial to prepare a plan B and understand that you might need to provide reasons if questioned about your ability to return home.

All you can do is try to apply. If it would be approved or not, when that 60days start if approved, etc do depend on your immigration office and the officer you would have to deal with.

So the covid extension is I believe 60 days from the date you apply. The program still exists and as stated it's up to immigration to approve or not. I did mine in May in Bangkok and was approved, but doesn't mean they will automatically approve everyone. The form has an option of something along the lines of "my embassy doesn't provide documentation stating I can't return" which I tick.

It is up to the decision of the Immigration Officer but the option is still there until 25th July (date edited, thanks Lisa)
Land borders to neighbor countries are open, airports are open, some reports are that your application is denied and just handed back or they take your 1.900 Thb and stamp your passport application not approved and give you 7 days to leave the country.
interesting. Any idea what it depends on or its random? As I don't think any country is actually closed for its citizens to return! Also, if they deny, will I have to leave within 7 days if my current visa still has 3 weeks on it?
if you still have THREE weeks left on your current stamp you better go a LOT closer to that stamp running out in case they decide to deny you and give you the 7 days to get out of thailand stamp (without asking you) Because if you go now and they do that you will lose ALL the days you have on your current stamp ๐ฎ
IF they deny your application, they hand it back and you can stay until the permitted up to date stamped in your passport.
IF they NOT approve your application you get a NEW stamp with the text Application not approved and 7 days to leave the country, this is normally 7 days after your applied and not an extra 7 days on top of your current stay.
Hey Robert, sorry I'm slightly confused. If they deny you can stay until current date stamped. You then wrote if they NOT approve you have 7 days to leave (shortens your stay in essence). What one is it? Thank Yoh for all your help!
it's not one or the other. Each immigration officer can deal with it as they see fit. There's no rule saying you must be given one, and no rule as to how rejection is dealt with. All you can do is go and ask and see what happens.
as in, if they deny the application, they just hand you back the papers and passport without doing anything. If they take the application and then not approve it, you will get a new stamp in the passport.
it means if they deny your application it won't be processed at all. If they process it and don't approve it, you will get a 7 day stamp to leave the country.
