Has anyone gotten a certificate of residence to purchase a car on the DTV visa? I read that bangkok immigration won’t give me one. Anyone have any insight on the matter? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats report successful experiences obtaining a certificate of residence for purchasing a car while on a DTV visa across various locations in Thailand, including Bangkok, Korat, Jomtien, and Udon Thani. While some have suggested using agents to expedite the process, others have successfully navigated the immigration offices independently. Overall, experiences vary by specific location, and it seems feasible to acquire the necessary documentation without major issues.
Commenting cause I'd like to hear more about people's experiences at the Bangkok location. I will be going tomorrow so that I can get a driver's license.
I got mine last year while on a DTV with no problem. If you are buying a new car or from a big used car dealership often they can take care of this for you for a fee - mine (BYD) wanted something like 2500 baht so I just did it myself.
really? When I purchased my last vehicle and needed a residence certificate I went to my nearby agent, MOTS Services. It took 2 minutes. I didn't have to waste half a day of my valuable time at immigration. I'm really starting to thing this new wave of Thai expats are either poor or retarded.
Yes I got one last week from korat immigration. When I tried last year they said I couldn’t on a DTV but this time I just had to wait until I’d done a 90 day report. They also gave me a certificate of residence to get a driving licence which I got the next day.
