DRIVER'S LICENSE ON DTV

Hi friends, has anyone been able to secure a resident certificate from their embassy on DTV to apply for driver's license as this is one of the main documents required?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A resident certificate is necessary to apply for a driver's license on a Digital Nomad (DTV) visa in Thailand. Most users confirmed that this certificate can be obtained from the Immigration Office, rather than the embassy. It's important to specify the purpose of the certificate as being for a driver's license. Users have shared experiences that the process can vary slightly depending on individual circumstances, such as the need for other documents like a health certificate.

You don’t need your embassy for residency certificate, you can go to immigration and ask for one and specify that it’s for driver’s license purposes. We got it done at the same time as doing the 90-day reporting.

It is Immigration you need the Residence Certificate from for a Drover Licence. It needs to be made out for that specific purpose just as you need a different one to register a vehicle.

katya990 In some places they'll it out to you so it can take a week or so. There are agents who can expedite for a fee. I paid at a driving school last week to get a RC to transfer a bike to my name.

Depends on your embassy. My embassy does not do them so I have to go to Immigration to request it. I am currently in 2 day class for drivers license. You dont need it to take class but you will need it to get the actual license at DLT.

oh thank you. My embassy also refused but I will try to go to immigration. Mine is just renewal (motorbike only) because I already have it since a few years. My embassy previously did it for me when I was on work visa so I wonder if for DTV it is only possible to do at immigration for everyone?
