- I arrived to Thailand by way of a 60 day e-Visa in April.
- I visited immigration once in person to extend this an additional 30 days.
- After 30 days, I did a border run and re-entered on a 60 day stamp, which is soon coming to expiration.
It's now time to extend again, but I am confused. I have been told that I can just go to immigration and they'll extend for an extra 30 days. I've also been told that I need to leave and return?
Can someone clarify? It's near impossible to search the rules now when half the results are related to DTV or changing land border crossing rules for Laos, etc.
I just want to know what I need to do to legally stay at least an extra 30 days. After that time I'll likely ramble on somewhere else.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American citizen currently in Thailand on a 60-day e-Visa has a few options for extending their stay. It is confirmed that they can visit the local Thai Immigration office to apply for an additional 30-day extension without having to leave the country, provided they have a TM30 address registration on file. It's also suggested to prepare some forms (STM.2 and TM.7) in advance to streamline the process.
You can extend no problem. Save yourself some time by filling in STM.2, TM.7 and acknowledgement of penalties for a visa overstay beforehand. They’re all available online.
you can only apply once. After exiting Thailand (after 1 extension) by crossing a border the process resets. You cannot make application for multiple extensions
Just go to your local Thai Immigration office and apply for the 30 days extension of stay. It's ADDED to your current ending date. Be sure you have a TM30 address registration on file with Thai Immigration office.
