Hi we obtained our OA visa in the UK last september and are planning to leave and return to Thailand before it expires therefore obtaining a stamp in our passports that allows us to stay for another year, correct? Also do we need proof of funds when we return to Thailand or does that just apply when you are getting a new visa? Sorry for the long post but we have been getting conflicting information from other expats. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The OA visa allows you to extend your stay in Thailand by exiting and re-entering before the visa expires. You need to get a stamp upon re-entry to secure the next year's extension. It's not necessary to provide proof of funds upon your return; this requirement usually applies when applying for a new visa. Ensure you do this a few days before the visa's expiration, and remember to obtain a re-entry permit if you plan to leave while the extension is valid.

, come back into the country BEFORE your VISA expires, get stamped in for another year. GO to the immigration office and buy a re-entry permit and it will be valid for the year entry stamp you got.
To get the other year - you need to Exit and Reenter Thailand a few days before the first year Expiry. You can't just exit and come back after the first year Expiry date. So you need to do a border bounce Before you head home
