Currently I have a Non O visa based on my Thai Son. I am married and my wife is Thai.
My visa is due to run out on the 14th of July, 2021. My next 90 day report is 8th August.
My situation has changed a wee bit as I was offered a job teaching English and the work agent said they can help with my visa.
They suggested I extend my visa and that will give them more time to sort a new B visa.
They said It will cost 3,500B to extend my current visa.
It all sound a bit fishy to me !!!!
Am I being paranoid..or should I go to extend by 60 Days myself 1,900 Baht?
What documents do I need?
I am based in Bangkok.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user currently holds a Non-O visa based on their Thai child and marriage, set to expire soon. They are considering extending their visa due to a new job offer for teaching English, but are concerned about the reliability of the agent suggesting an extension for 3,500 Baht. Comments suggest the user can legally teach on their Non-O visa and obtain a work permit without switching to a Non-B visa, as long as their current visa is based on marriage or a Thai child. It's recommended to keep the current visa, resolve work contract details in writing, and consider the lower-cost extension option.

At least you don't have to change your type of visa/extension (as long as you are on them based on marriage to a Thai or supporting a half Thai child) to get and hold your work permit.
Which type of visa/extension you want to have is up to you and your preference..
Are you currently on a one year extension of stay based on raising half-Thailand children OR a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national?
I ask because if you are on one of those extension of stays, you can hold a work permit. I would NOT recommend changing your extension of stay status to employment.
