Is it possible to change from a covid extension to B visa??
I am currently on non-o visa (spouse of a foreigner with work permit) and I have been offered a teaching job starting in August.
Apparently not possible to change visas directly at Chonburi. So I’m wondering if cancelling my current visa and getting covid extension would be worth a try? Trying to avoid needing to go back to UK if there is any possibility of sorting out the visa change in Thailand..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non-O visa (spouse of a foreigner with a work permit) and wishes to transition to a Non-B visa for a teaching job starting in August. They are inquiring about the possibility of changing their visa in Thailand, particularly since direct changes might not be feasible in Chonburi. Suggestions from community comments emphasize consulting with the employer and the immigration office, while expressing skepticism about the viability of changing from a trailing spouse extension to a Non-B visa.

IF I was to bet I'd say no, you're not gonna be able to pull it off because you're comin' off a trailing spouse extension BUT again that's totally up to the immigration office and the documents your employer would give to support your application for a Non-B.
my wife was able to do it in Bangkok, she was on a non-O dependent on me with me having a work permit. She's also a teacher. A lot will also depend on the school's appetite to make it work in country along with immigration office as you say.
So I’ve heard the same in Bangkok from another teacher. Apparently rules at Chonburi immigration are different and I’m not allowed to process my visa in Bangkok instead. I’m still hopeful for a way to do it in Thailand but it’s looking more and more unlikely 😔
you definitely need to talk with your employer and immigration office. Even the immigration office would allow you to apply, still, many employers don't meet the requirement for you to apply for an in-country visa process.
