Just checking ...

If l arrive on 7th or so of February on a 60 day tourist visa but would like to stay till a week after Songkran around the 20th of April.(Approx 75 days total) Can l request a 30 day extention in my first week or do l have to wait for the last 15 days of my 60 day tourist visa to apply for the extention.

The reason l ask is I'll spend my first week of my holiday in Pattaya then I'll be heading to Sangkha, with limited transport options to get to a immigration office.

Also another option would be to do a land crossing at Chong Chom /O-Smach(instead of the the extention) as that is closer and easier to get to than a immigration office. Does anyone know if l would need to stay overnight ,in Cambodia, or not if l use that border crossing?

Australian passport holder.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of extending a 60-day tourist visa in Thailand by 30 days. Specifically, they want to know if they can apply for the extension during the first week of their stay or if they must wait until the last 15 days of their visa. They also consider using a land border crossing to Cambodia for a new visa exemption entry to Thailand and seek clarification on whether an overnight stay in Cambodia is necessary.

seeing as you're going to have to BUY a visa to get into cambodia to bounce in and out so you can get a new 30 day visa exempt entry to thailand it will almost the same price to just go get the 30 day extension for 1900baht at what ever immigration office you're near when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp

From the village Poom Saway (not sure of spelling)its only 13km to the border as the village is off highway 24

How will you travel to the border? Immigration is near. Either way you have a long journey.

@Dan***
, in addition when bouncing in & out of O'Smach, Cambodia you'll pay 1,500 baht for the Cambodian visa (they will begrudgingly accept $30 USD for an Australian passport holder) and you'll be charged 300 baht for not staying overnight.

You can demand not to pay it, but, the entry stamp may end up anywhere in your passport.

My last bounce there was

thanks Tod.. its not so much the the money side of things its about 10km to the border or a 45 km to Surin (if surin has a office) or 85 km Buriram (no taxi service in Sangkha)

Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket,Buriram (and a few other immigration offices) will let you apply for your extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp

There is NO office that will let you come in on a 60 day tourist visa entry and then immediately apply for an extension.

Most offices have a 30 days or less rule, SO figure waiting at least a month before you apply for your 30 day extension (unless you're in Pattaya) :P

You can only extend a tourist visa in the last 15 days of your last entry stamp in Pattaya immigration.

In busy periods, Jomtien will refuse the extension until the last 7 days

Correct. I posted due too the OP saying he would be in Pattaya the first week and wanted to do it ASAP
Tod *********
That is a Jomtien ONLY requirement
Bob **********
You can do it anytime

That is NOT quite correct :O
