TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of applying for an additional 30-day extension on a 45-day tourist visa in Thailand is limited. You can obtain an extension only once for tourism purposes, which is the standard procedure. If you have already used this extension, options include leaving Thailand and re-entering (border run) to reset your visa. Alternatively, if you are married to a Thai national or have a Thai child, you might qualify for a different type of visa or extension, but this does not apply in your case since both you and your family are foreign nationals.

If his wife has a non-b for work could he not get a trailing spouse visa?

Yea, this I'm totally aware. We actually got this once before when my wife lost her job a few years ago. It took tremendous amount of time and things to go through, probably because of COVID situation at the time.

, and if you want to go that way, you need to talk her employer to see if they would help your Non-O dependent first. Sadly, not all employers would support it.

good question...

Thanks for asking about it.

Then only available extension for your visa-exempt entry is 30 days tourism extension ONCE only. If you already applied for it, you need to do border-bounce or visa-run.

No, no special extension for a foreign family.

Are you Married to a Thai?

Sorry, I forgot to include these details. My wife and I are both foreigners (Vietnamese), so is my baby son. I got layoff from a company recently but my wife still has a job with a valid work permit.

Suggest you ask a Bangkok border run service company to take you to the Thai border AND bounce out and re-enter to get a NEW Visa Exempt Entry into Thailand... 45 days if done by March 31. From April 1 it's 30 days Visa Exempt Entry. Plus you get One 30 day extension of stay at Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

Google Bangkok Border Run.

30 days extension is based on tourism and it's one time deal only. IF you have legal documents with a member of your Thai family, you can apply for 60-days visit family extension once. If you don't have proof of a relationship with a Thai family member, you have to leave.
