Hello everyone, I have a question regarding extending my stay in Thailand.

I am a UK national and entered Thailand with the 30 day visa exemption, which is due to run out Sunday the 23rd. I am receiving conflicting advice about wether I can extend this for a further 30 days by going to my local immigration office (Khon Kaen), and being told that I need to leave the country to do a visa run.

Does anybody know if it is possible to extend my stay with the visa exemption?

Thankyou in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK national seeking to extend their 30-day visa exemption in Thailand can apply for a 30-day extension at the Khon Kaen Immigration Office. The process is straightforward and typically costs 1,900 THB, allowing the traveler to stay without needing to leave the country.

In case you need to organize a visa run, behind Immigration every 40 minutes the bus leaves to Mukdahan, Laos border. Buy the 153 Thb at the booth in the middle.

You'll need to get a photo, and copies of your passport ID page, copy of entry stamp, and copy of TM6 departure card

Darren Low somebody who works where I am currently staying contacted the local office and that’s when I was told I needed to leave the country. Is the extension at the discretion of the individual immigration officers? Or has my request maybe got confused in translation with the office?
