TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can extend your current 30-day visa exemption by an additional 30 days at the immigration office for 1900 baht. After this extension, you can leave Thailand and return on another visa exempt entry as long as you comply with the rule of only having two 30-day visa exempt entries by land within a calendar year.
you can indeed get a 30 day extension on your existing visa exempt entry at the immigration office for 1900 baht AND you can leave the country and return on a 30 day visa exempt entry as well.
Remember though there is a limit of TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year.
