TLDR : Answer Summary
There is uncertainty regarding the conversion of a DTV visa to a Non-B visa within Thailand. Some contributors suggest that it might be possible with the right documentation, while others indicate that one may need to cancel the DTV visa and apply for the Non-B visa separately, potentially requiring contact with the embassy or consulate to officially cancel the DTV. The process details are unclear, and it's mentioned that one may have a limited time to leave the country after cancellation.

I believe you should be able to convert a DTV inside Thailand with appropriate documentation. Note that is to convert from one to the other, not to cancel one and then apply for the other. The original announcement of the DTV in the Royal Gazette stated this could be done but I've yet come across anyone who has said they have done it. You can but try.

@Benjamin ********
really, you have experience of trying to do such a conversion?

@John *********
Well. Yes. And Im doing it right now.

@Benjamin ********
so you went to an immigration office and asked them to *convert* your DTV to another visa type?

@John *********
I already answered : no. Conversion doesnt existe. Dtv need to be void. Only embassy who gave you can void. You need to be out.

Immigration won’t cancel a visa issued by the MFA. You need to contact the embassy or consulate you got it from to cancel it. Perhaps the MFA in country can do but you’d have to ask them directly.

Once cancelled you can then apply for a Non B.

How long does this process takes? If I’m correct after cancelling your dtv you only have 7 days to leave the country right?
Benjamin *********
@Yasmin **********
1 to 10 days. And you need to be out. And they check.

@Yasmin **********
who will cancel it if immigration not do?

@Oleg **********
Got to go back to the embassy you got it from and hope they will.

@Oleg **********
when you cancel it yourself?
Benjamin *********
No you cant. You need not go outside. Void your DTV. Ask for nonB. Wait. And come back.

@Benjamin ********
and can you recommend him how to void his dtv, as the immigration not do?

You can get first non b 3 months in Thailand no problem; no need to go out, but how to cancel this SH…t dtv visa before?
Benjamin *********
@Oleg **********
only the embassy who gave you visa can void it.

@Benjamin ********
no. They don’t do this service. My friends go Lao and came back again with a 180 days stamp. The not canceled it..

@Oleg **********
the only one who can void a visa is the authority who granted it

Cannot. Have to close DTV. In my immigration they don’t do.

Where you will cancel your dtv I don’t know.
