TLDR : Answer Summary
There is uncertainty regarding the conversion of a DTV visa to a Non-B visa within Thailand. Some contributors suggest that it might be possible with the right documentation, while others indicate that one may need to cancel the DTV visa and apply for the Non-B visa separately, potentially requiring contact with the embassy or consulate to officially cancel the DTV. The process details are unclear, and it's mentioned that one may have a limited time to leave the country after cancellation.

I believe you should be able to convert a DTV inside Thailand with appropriate documentation. Note that is to convert from one to the other, not to cancel one and then apply for the other. The original announcement of the DTV in the Royal Gazette stated this could be done but I've yet come across anyone who has said they have done it. You can but try.

Immigration won’t cancel a visa issued by the MFA. You need to contact the embassy or consulate you got it from to cancel it. Perhaps the MFA in country can do but you’d have to ask them directly.

Once cancelled you can then apply for a Non B.

How long does this process takes? If I’m correct after cancelling your dtv you only have 7 days to leave the country right?
