Hello ๐Ÿ˜Š

Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for a Non B visa with out having to leave Thailand. I was due to go to the Thai Embassy in Laos to get the visa and for obvious reasons that plan will have to be put on hold. Just cant seem to find any info on whether it is possible to get my Non B visa while remaining in Thailand.

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

TLDR : Answer Summary
It is possible to apply for a Non-B visa while remaining in Thailand, but this depends on specific immigration office policies and documentation requirements. Not all immigration offices are authorized to issue in-country Non-B visas. To be eligible, you generally need to have 15 to 21 days left on your current visa. Applicants should confirm their options with their employer and local immigration office for the necessary documentation.

To convert a Visa Exempt Entry or a Tourist Visa or even the Extension of Stay you got on these, can be converted to a Non Immigrant B visa inside the country at Immigration Offices who are authorized to do this.

You have to ask your local Immigration Office and your employer to work out all the requirements.

For those who are having a company or job under the BOI regulations, check with the BOI office in Bangkok.

We have a company under BOI but office based in Chiangmai. Our employees needs to get Non B so we can start visa and work permit process. We are looking for an information as we talk to BOI officer. They said we can do in Changwattana but needs to confirm with immigration again what's document requirements

All processes are done by his new employer not by him. Have to check if his new employer is using an agent or not (if even they'd answer it...).

You can't do BOI visas at Chaengwattana, in Bangkok you use the Immigration One Stop Service Center at Cham Churi Square that does BOI/IEAT and SMART visa/work permit things.

Chiang Mai immigration office also issues Non-B visas in country. Why not contact THEM <- where the company is

In order to use the C/M office you need at least 21 days left on a 30 day visa exempt entry, a 60 day tourist visa entry OR a 30 day extension from one of those.

If you are in a situation where you are changing jobs and need to process new paperwork, you will need to be highly proactive!

is right, if you are currently on a soon to expire / cancel Non-Imm B extension (as the law stands) you will need to do that outside of Thailand. The only chance to change this is to get your employer (pref someone high up) to push for an exemption during this crisis. If you leave it up to a recruitment agent or admin staff to fight in your corner...game over! The more noise everybody in this situation makes, the quicker common sense may prevail. If you just sit quietly in the corner letting someone uninterested / inexperienced take care of you application, no chance... P.S. I am on a Non-Imm B teaching extension and changing jobs soon too ;)

I am in the same situation: all documents handed in to lawyer for non B but now cannot get to Malaysia to hand in.

I will ask the lawyer if it's possible inside thailand. If anyone can share any info, or link a source with info, about the requirements for obtaining a nonB inside thailand, I would be very grateful kap ๐Ÿ™

as I said NOT all the immigration offices offer in country 90 day Non-Immigrant Type visa conversions. At the ones that do you need xxx days left on your current 30 day visa exempt, 60 day tourist visa OR a 30 day extension from one of those.

I say xxx days because different offices have the application go under consideration for different amounts of time. Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, are all 14 days, Chiang Mai and I think Kanchanaburi are 21 days So you need MORE than that time on your current stamp to even apply.

The place to ask is your immigration office..

On witch visa you are , you need more then 15 days but in general it's possible ,like Tod described

you cannot apply for an in country Non-Immigrant VISA from anything but a 30 day visa exempt, a 60 day tourist visa OR a 30 day extension from one of those.

That is between you, the company you will be employed by and the immigration office you use. Not all offices can issue in country Non-Immigrant Type visas, and the ones that do require you have between 15 and 21 days left on your 30 day visa exempt entry, your 60 day tourist visa entry OR a 30 day extension from one of those.

IF you have the required time left on your current stamp you need to talk to your employer to see if the documentation they gave you is sufficient to meet the documents needed INSIDE the country at the immigration office to apply for the 90 day Non-B visa.

There is a HUGE difference in documentation between applying for a Non-B outside the country at a thai consulate and applying for it inside the country at the immigration office

Thank you for your help. I have a visa extension until the 24th of April. Hoping this will work. Also just to confirm in the current situation it is possible to get a further 30 day extension with a letter from my Irish Embassy or Consular? Thanks again for your help :)
