Hello all.
I have a work permit (US passport) that expires June 1, which is a saturday. I plan to go back to the US for a bit after it expires.
I know that I need to cancel my work permit with immigration. Is it OK to do that a couple of days before it expires, since it expires on a saturday?
Also, do I need to leave the country on the exact day that my work permit expires? Or do they give you a couple of days?
Looking to do everything legally, I don't want to overstay even a day.
Thanks all.
TLDR : Answer Summary
To cancel your work permit, it's advisable to do so a few days before its expiration date. You will need to provide a letter from your employer stating your last day of work. After cancellation, you should visit the immigration office with the appropriate documents. Note that you won't receive any extra time beyond your work permit's expiration date, except for specific cases involving BOI companies, which might offer additional days.
