Question-

I arrive in Thailand April 3rd. I will get 30 days free (or 45...) and then extend another 30 days. To be safe I will book an onward flight out of Thailand.

Can I book it for a date after the first 30 days and if they ask, explain that I plan to extend the visa, or does the flight need to be booked within the first 30 days?

Thanks ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual plans to arrive in Thailand on April 3rd and wishes to know if they can book an onward flight for a date after their first 30 days, given they intend to extend their visa by an additional 30 days. Responses indicate that while the airline typically requires an onward flight within the first 30 days, some have suggested using a service that rents out onward tickets that can be canceled after being shown for proof.

Thanks Brandon. Can anyone confirm these "onward ticket" websites do as advertised? I looked into them at the beginning of my travels and they seemed to have dodgy-looking websites, and some had negative reviews.

got caught off guard at my home airport , usually very slow and lazy staff and never ask questions . At check in i was asked to show return ticket ๐Ÿ‘€, all flustered , got onto the bestonwardticket.com website , paid with PayPal and boom , instant email "ticket" ... problem solved

I've used them a few times. I just make sure I purchase an option that means my ticket will still be valid when I show it to the relevant people. You can even find your reservation if you search the airline reservation system

Great, thanks Brandon. Some of those sites look dodgy as! ๐Ÿ™‚ Can you point me to at least one reliable one you have used?

As of right now, if you enter in April you will get 30 days which you can extend for 30.

Usually the airline is the only one who will ask to see travel out of Thailand and they will want to see it within 30 days.

Google "onward travel ticket" and you'll find many agencies that will rent you a ticket for $10-$20. It's a fully valid plane ticket you can show to anyone who asks, but the agency will cancel it so you don't have to worry about buying your own refundable ticket and doing it yourself.
