[Extension of Stay]

Good afternoon

I am due to go to immigration this week for an application for extension of temporary stay. I have a work permit that was issued in Nonthaburi and I also work there but I actually live just inside the Bkk border. My Non B expires on September 5th.

My first question is can I go to Nonthaburi immigration because my work permit and work are in Nonthaburi?

My second question is if I go on Monday for example there will be 16 days (including Monday) left on my visa - is there a time limit you have to attend within or a minimum number of days left on your visa?

Thanks in advance,

Think I've worded it better this time :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they can apply for an extension of their Non-B visa at the Nonthaburi immigration office because their work permit and employment are located there, despite living just inside the Bangkok border. They also inquire about the timeframe for applying for a visa extension, specifically if there are any restrictions regarding the remaining validity of their visa when they apply. The community replies with mixed opinions on the correct immigration office to visit and clarifications about the time limit for applications.

I live on the BKK/Nonthaburi border but on the Nonthaburi side. My work is in BKK so visa is processed through Chaengwattana. I'd assume Nonthaburi Immigration would be correct for you. The only time I have to go to Nonthaburi is for my 90 day report.

But your WP will be processed by the office in Nonthaburi, therefore so should your extension. BUT do what your boss says and hopefully it will all be ok.

Oh and where you queue for Counter N for a ticket has changed to the main counter as you walk through the double doors into the main area where all the immigration officers are and the various counters. I raced to Counter N and had to go back so ended up further back in the queue :(

Morning Lloyd. You were correct lol. I arrived at Chaeng Wattana yesterday morning at 6.15am (60 people/umbrellas/bottles already in the queue) and was told by the immigration officer I must apply for the extension at Nonthaburi because the school is in Nonthaburi and then report every 90 days at Chaeng Wattana because I live in Bkk - superb morning.....

Because your extension is based on employment. If your extension was based on marriage, then you would get that where you live and the work permit where you work. But, let us know how it works out, either way.

Thanks Lloyd. Just for your info the school manager has also come back to me this evening and said I have to go to Chaeng Wattana because I live in Bkk. If she is wrong, which wouldn't surprise me, it would certainly make my life easier.

You can apply for the extension anywhere from 30 days before to the last day. (Some offices will accept 45 days before).

You go to the office where your employer is. So for you, Nonthaburi.

It got worse of course - my previous Non B visa had not been cancelled so now waiting for a letter which should arrive Friday then go to Nonthaburi Monday as my current visa expires on the 5th so hopefully there won't be any issues - nightmare :)

Morning Lloyd. I have just got to school and spoke to the school manager re my application for extension of stay and told her that I can go to Nonthaburi as per your advice. She said I have to go to the immigration office where I live - I live in Bkk therefore I have to go to Chaeng Wattana and can't go to Nonthaburi Immigration. Can you just confirm please as going to Nonthaburi is easier for me. Thanks
