Hello everybody.

I'm planning to extend my non O visa next week.

It will be valid until the end of May 2027.

I will not be in thailand in may 2027 to extend it again.

1. Is there a way to make the extension earlier, like 2 months?

2. Is the first extension starting from the end of my initial Non-O?

Thank you
Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their non-O visa, which is set to expire in May 2027, and is inquiring if they can apply for an extension earlier than the typical timeline and when the extension period would officially start. The community responses clarify that extensions can usually be applied for 30 to 45 days before expiration depending on the location. Additionally, one suggestion includes the possibility of applying for a special 60-day extension if the user has Thai family, which could shift the next extension date. Some responses also share personal experiences of timing issues related to the process.

Do you have Thai family (wife or child)? If you wanted to change when your next extension application is due to might be able to get the 60 day Visit Thai Family extension (requires a Thai wife or child) if you have not yet taken this extension to your initial Non-O visa? This means your next 12 month extension moves out those 60 days.

I was in your situation as mine was ended on the 18 May and had to travel to renew on the same day and the funny think is the immigration at Suvanakhum did stamp my passport for only 1 day.

why are you running your stamp down so close to the expiration date before you apply for an extension?

At most offices you can apply for an extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp.

Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and I believe Pattaya you can apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp

There's no reason to wait until your current stamp is almost running out because the extension is ADDED to the expiration date you have now no matter when you apply (within the window the immigration office you use allows) meaning you don't lose any time applying early :)

You have to see how early your office allows you to apply for an extension AND

if you're still not going to be in country when it's the soonest you can apply you need to ask them if you can get an early extension with proof you're not going to be here during the regular renewal period (although the immigration office doesn't have to let you, they can allow you to do it but it's their call).

You might have to just get a new Non-O visa when you're out of the country and start the process for the extension again, once you get back.

I just went last week with 3 weeks left and I only had a 6 months bank statement. They wanted 1 year. Bangkok bank takes a week to get you the 1 year statement. I got it this afternoon and going back for round two tomorrow. Glad I started the process early.

@Chris *******
and were you getting the FIRST yearly extension from an initial 90 day Non-O visa

OR

were you getting another year extension because you're already on an extension?

They usually want to see the year transaction detail statement when you're already on an extension and getting another one

@Chris *******
should be okay as long as you can present the year statement, that's something that confuses a lot of people because the first time they got the year they only needed a 3-month statement

You are correct. First you get 3 months and they want a 6 months statement when you extend it for 12 more months. After that, they require one year for every subsequent renewal/extension. I'm in Krabi and that's what they require here. I went in with only a 6 months statement and they turned me back after explaining what I was missing. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. I think I have everything they asked for now. (I was also missing photocopies of every page in the bank book for the last year.)

OP
@Tod ********
the reason is that I didn't open a bank account immediately, and my deposit has been in the bank for 2 months just recently.

understood, yep things like that happen.. I just wanted to point out that you don't have to run your stamp down to the end..

Best of luck with your up coming extension (y)
