Just a question, my visa extension expires on Dec 12th I was going to go to Cambodia spend a couple of weeks then apply for a tourist visa 60 days to re-enter Thailand then get a 30 day extension on that visa taking me to my departure date of March 7, now what I need to know is if I just re-enter Thailand by air or land I can get 45 days upon entry but can I get an extension of 45 days on that re-entry some people are telling me you can only get 30 day extension.
Thank you to all moderators, you people do such a fantastic job. Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired whether they could obtain a 45-day extension after re-entering Thailand on a visa exempt entry, given a re-entry stamp of 45 days. However, responses clarified that while the length of the entry stamp has increased to 45 days, extensions for visa exempt entries remain at 30 days.
Okay, this post is going away from the original question. Please make your own post about changing visa, or whatever that is not related to the original post.
James asked a great question. IF you have been in thailand on an extended stay (covid extensions, etc) keep in mind there is a good chance you will have 'issues' getting stamped back into thailand when you fly in.
So factor that in to what ever you're doing if it applies to you 🙂
regarding visa history, I have a few years worth of OA then O extensions which I allowed to expire oct 1 - then left and returned via air and am currently here on a visa exempt, which I’ll extend, and then leave again. My plan is to return a week later, get another visa exempt and apply for an O visa, 800k in an account seasoned by then etc..
I’m hoping there won’t be an issue with the IO at the airport seeing all my previous Thai visas including the recent visa exempt stamp. Is there a rule I’m not aware of?
Hi. I entered Thailand on Sept 14th on a 60 day tourist visa and I got an extension just yesterday in Hua Hin giving me 90 days. So I think my plan of going to Cambodia and spending 3-4 weeks then coming back with a 45 day exemption and a 30 day extension will take me to my flight back to Canada on March 7th. Cheers.
it's totally workable and relatively risk free endeavor (y)
Come back in on the 45 day visa exempt and take the 30 day extension. Your entry history is such that you run little risk of being questioned at passport control. They'll just stamp you in without issue

The only thing that changed was the length of the entry stamp which went from 30 days to 45 days. Extensions on visa exempt entries are still 30 days 🙂
So you could come in by air or land on a 45 day visa exempt entry and get one 30 day extension for 1900baht giving you just about 75 days in country
