Question for Canadian visa. I bought a ticket to Phuket for 60 days. Can I get in with the 45day free visa and then get an extention for 15 days. I’ll end up in Chiangmai I hope.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry pertains to traveling to Thailand on a visa-exempt entry for 45 days and seeking a 15-day extension. According to responses, travelers can enter Thailand visa-exempt for 45 days and apply for a 30-day extension at a local immigration office, totaling 75 days. It's necessary to have a Certificate of Entry from the Thai Embassy and possibly a return ticket for immigration purposes.

The visa exempt entry is now 45 days but may change back to the usual 30 days after September 30th... Watch for news updates on this if it happens.

do you know if it is possible to extend for a longer period? What are the other options?

when you are in Thailand look over the options for longer stay. Popular is the Ed Visa for Thai language study... Up to one year if you are a legitimate student at regular visa and school course fees.

And as this is now delving into the options to stay longer in Thailand... I am closing comment.

The OP has his answer and we wish him well in his decisions.

For the gent who hijacked the post... He has his homework to study available options in staying longer in Thailand.

I accepted your post question.. Usually refer you to one of the stranded expats forums on facebook..

But the answer is simple...

If you arrive visa exempt on arrival into Thailand you will be stamped into Thailand for 45 days ....

And you have a 30 days extension at local Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht = 75 days total stay in Thailand.

You will need to have a CoE certificate of entry issued by the Thai Embassy in Canada...and will need to meet their requirements too...

Which may include a return ticket within the 45 days you are stamped into Thailand upon arrival. If they do...make sure you have a airline ticket that can be easily changed to provide the added time you are planning to stay in Thailand.
