Thank you for all you do. I am on a non-imm O visa with extensions based on marriage. I am due to renew my extension in October, after which, as always happens, I expect my passport will be stamped "under consideration". During the 30 days my extension is "under cinsideration", before I can get my yearly stamp, will I be able to leave the country? I am trying to schedule a trip abroad and want to understand my constraints. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, currently on a NON-O visa with marriage extension, inquired about the possibility of leaving Thailand when their visa extension is 'under consideration.' It is advised that during this period (30 days after applying for the extension), the user must inform the immigration officer about their travel plans. Additionally, they need to obtain a re-entry permit to avoid losing the consideration stamp. Traveling during this time is feasible, but they must return before the stamp expires to complete the extension process.

Thank you Tod and James.

As your travel plans appear flexible, I suggest you book them AFTER you get the one year extension of stay as Married in your passport.

Safe travels โœˆ๏ธ

Okay this question comes up a LOT for people who get visa extensions which have an "under consideration" period before you go back to get the year extension inked in.

It works like this;

When you apply for the extension, pay the 1900baht, get the under consideration stamp in your passport you need to TELL the officer if you have plans to leave during that period because more and more offices are now doing in home visits and you need to coordinate that with your planned travel out of the country

You also need to BUY a re-entry permit, so you can get out/back and not lose the under consideration stamp. Keep in mind that a re-entry permit will ONLY be valid for the under consideration period <- meaning you have to return to thailand before that stamp runs out so you can go to the immigration office and get your year extension inked in on that date.

Also any re-entry permit you had thai'd ๐Ÿ˜ฎ err tied to the old extension becomes invalid once you apply for a new extension and get the under consideration stamp. If you're going to travel out/back during the under consideration period you need a new re-entry with that u/c stamp's expiration date ๐Ÿ™‚
