Can I apply for an extension of my OA retirement visa in Thailand before my current insurance expires?

hi, I am living in bkk on a non oa retirement visa.

my extension will expire on Feb 25, 2025 with my existing insurance coming to expire on the same day while my new insurance coverage starts on the same day for another year.

if I apply for another extension about a week before Feb 25, let's say Feb 17 (before the expiry of my existing insurance and before the coverage of my new insurance), will I be eligible to get my new extension?

then will the immigration consider my new extension to start from Feb 17 or 25?

I am asking this because the regulation stated the new insurance must cover the day for applying for the extension.

Thank you for your time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about applying for an extension of their non-OA retirement visa before the expiration date of their current insurance, which coincides with the visa expiration. Community responses confirm that applying about a week before the expiration is acceptable, provided that proof of both the current and new insurance policies are presented. The key point is that the new insurance must begin on the expiry date of the old policy, ensuring there are no gaps.

No worries. I have the same situation extended OA 23Dec, OA expires 7Jan and new insurance effective 19Jan same date previous policy expires. Btw your new extension is dated the day your previous one expires.

You are totally fine, People routinely apply for their OA extensions in Bangkok as early as 45 days before their current extension expires and as long as they have a new year insurance policy they will get the extension.

You need the proof of the current policy you are on now and proof of the new policy that takes effect when this one expires.

The rule is not meant to be interpreted to mean you need the new policy effective the exact date you apply for the new extension, just that you need the new policy to take effect for the next yearly extension (with no gaps in the policies)
