TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is in Thailand on a 45-day visa-exempt entry and inquires about applying for a tourist visa, particularly if they can do so without a return flight and the typical processing time for a tourist visa. Comments suggest exploring options like a COVID extension, applying for a 30-day extension available from their current entry stamp, and highlight that tourist visas typically must be obtained before entering Thailand.

Try the covid extension?

You say you're here on a 45 day visa exempt entry, did you already get your 30 day 'regular' extension you can get from that entry stamp?

Go to your immigration office and apply for the 30 day extension AND ask them if you can apply for the 60 day covid extension, that's available until may 29th

is regular extension now 45+30 (or covid 60)in this case so it does not matter when u apply the extension? I mean if i am here 45 day visa exempt and apply extension on day 15, total stay is still 45+30 (not 15+30)?

make sure when you go out there to ask for the 30 day extension you see if you can get the 60 day covid extension like
@Jia***
mentioned.

Some offices let you get that without the 30 day extension BUT some make you take the 30 day extension first and then get the covid extension.

That's why I said ASK THEM when you're there how they will do it

right you don't lose any time applying early it's added on

the 30 day regular extension is added to the expiration date of your current entry stamp. Most immigration offices let you apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp.

You can't apply for a tourist visa inside thailand :( You get those BEFORE you come here.
