What should I consider regarding my visa when traveling to Thailand and crossing back from Cambodia?

Hi all,

I plan on entering Thailand from Uk (tourist visa) on 28/11/19 and then crossing into Cambodia through Chong Chom on 27/12/19. I then return to Thailand through the same border 3 days later to stay in Thailand for a further 3 weeks and then return to the UK.

Question/ concern is;

Although I’ll be crossing the border within the 1st month which will refresh my visa so to speak, my return flight ticket back to the uk is 7 weeks later. Am I likely to be pulled up on this when initially entering Thailand as the visa form asks you how long your stay is. Will pre- booked hotels in Cambodia cover this or am I over thinking it?

Thank you in advance for your advice 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to enter Thailand on a tourist visa, travel to Cambodia, and re-enter Thailand shortly after. They are concerned about potential issues with their 30-day visa exemption due to having a return flight from the UK 7 weeks later. Responses indicate that as long as they follow the proper immigration rules and possibly consider obtaining a 60-day tourist visa beforehand, they should not face problems re-entering Thailand.

IF you don't have an extensive history of living here on back-2-back 30 day visa exempt entries or 60 day tourist visa entries you shouldn't have any problem stamping IN to thailand.

I think you might have more problem with your air carrier because you're comin' to thailand without a visa (entering on a 30 day visa exempt stamp) and your proof of onward travel is longer than 30 days out (the time you'd get stamped in for).

I'd call your air carrier and see if that's gonna be a problem or not. If they say no problem you won't have a problem getting IN to thailand when you fly in OR when you try to re-enter after your time in Cambodia either

There is no problem entering on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp, leaving the country like you plan on and then re-entering on a NEW 30 day visa exempt entry stamp when you come back 3 days later

as long as he got a re-entry permit he would get stamped back in for the same expiration date as he got when he entered on the tourist visa

that’s what I was thinking, obviously my flights will show a 7 week stay but I wasn’t sure if they would even be checked

Tod would his TV still be ok when coming back from Cambodia??

other than the mix up in terminology your original plan is sound and you should have no problems at all entering thailand

you are totally confusing a single entry tourist visa that you BUY from a thai consulate BEFORE you wing your way here, with a free 30 day visa exempt entry stamp that you get when you show up here without any visa in your passport

IF you do that, you will be stamped in for 60 days when you show up here BUT if you leave thailand without buying a re-entry permit at the immigration office when you stamp out the 60 day stamp will cancel.

IF you get a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate before you come here, you will get stamped in for 60 days when you arrive AND you will need to buy a re-entry permit for 1000baht to keep that 60 day stamp "alive" while you go to Cambodia for those 3 days. Then when you return to thailand you'd be stamped in for the same expiration date as you got when you etnered the country on the 60 day tourist visa.

Thank you for your advice, yes I understand now. I will get the 60 day in advance.

your plan is to buy a Single Entry Tourist Visa at the Thai Consulate before you make your way into Thailand? There is no visa that refresh itself when you cross a border. With a Tourist Visa you get 60 days of stay and with a return flight in 7 weeks that will be no problem.

thank you for your swift reply. I was originally thinking of entering on the 30 day visa that you fill out upon arrival however, I will use your recommendation and get a 60 day before heading out.
