Hi all! Need some help please!

I am South African, traveling to Thailand and Cambodia for 3 weeks later this month.

When I receive my 30 day tourist visa upon arrival in Bangkok, will I be able to travel by train to Cambodia and then take a train back into Thailand? Does the 30 day tourist visa allow multiple entry into Thailand or do I receive another 30 day visa when I return to Thailand by train? Do I need to apply for a Thai visa or just receive one there?

Please help! Getting so much conflicting info online!

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, traveling from South Africa, inquired about the 30-day tourist visa exemption upon arrival in Thailand, specifically regarding the ability to travel to Cambodia and return. Based on the comments, they will receive a 30-day visa exemption stamp on arrival, but there are some restrictions. If they leave and return by land, they can only utilize this exemption twice within a calendar year. To have an extended stay after returning from Cambodia, it's advisable to apply for a single-entry tourist visa in advance, which would provide a 60-day stay.

Enjoy Boet, Tod has given you good advice

Depending on how long you want to stay in thailand when you return from Cambodia you might want to get a single entry tourist visa at the thai consulate in Phnom Penh. Then when you come back to thailand with it you would be stamped in for 60 days.

Ok, thanks.

@Ke***
, they could in theory get a re-entry permit on a 30 day visa exempt entry but seeing as visa exempt entries are free to thailand and for 30 days it wouldn't make sense to do it

Could he get a reentry stamp on his "Visa exempt"?

@Li***
, and I answered is yes it will be a new 30 day visa exempt stamp.

I only added the limit two 30 day visa exempt entries by land as a caution in case they were thinkin' of doing it a few times and thru in the part about getting a tourist visa in case they were staying here longer.
Linda ****************
And the answer to that is yes they will
Linda ****************
Ok I’ll leave the experts to it I’ve read the post as ....if they leave Thailand and re enter will it be a new 30 day stamp

Linda, terminology is very important when talking about visa and entry stamp.

She asked if she will get another 30 day visa and No, she will not. Because - apart that "30 day visa" doesn't exist - she will receive a 30 day "visa exempt" stamp.
Linda ****************
And that was what he was asking
Linda ****************
Chai But he will still receive 30 day on entry.

they are actually called visa exempt entries. In thai ยกเว้นวีซ่า <- visa exempt

you aren't getting a 30 day tourist visas when you enter the country (because there is no such thing :/) .

You because of the passport you hold get stamped in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Be advised you can only enter thailand two times by land on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp in a calendar year.

You’ll receive another 30days on arrival back into Thailand
