Can I apply for a new tourist visa in Cambodia after my current extension ends?

My tourist visa (already extended by 30 days) ends on 29th March. I'm from the UK, and i want to make a new tourist visa and come back here (Thailand). Options have been dropping like flies over the last few days. Looking for some answers regarding Cambodia...

1. I see there are flights from Bangkok to Phnom Penh - as things currently stand, is it possible to fly there? (i.e. will they let me in?) and if so, do I need a visa in advance?

1. I'd like to apply for a new SE Tourist visa at the Thai Embassy at Phnom Penh - will this be possible? or is it likely they would reject the application at this time?

1. As things currently stand, is it possible to fly into Bangkok from Phnom Penh with a valid tourist visa? (I'm aware that as a UK national you need to have the medical certificate, the insurance that covers COVID-19, and a 14 day quarantine will be mandatory - not a problem)

Been following as much of the updates as possible recently, but feel like i might have missed something crucial about Cambodia. The above would be a great solution for me, but seems too good to be true.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on what to do with their expiring tourist visa in Thailand and the possibility of applying for a new visa from Cambodia. They are particularly focused on flight availability, entry restrictions to Cambodia, and the requirements for re-entering Thailand. The discussion reveals concerns about current travel restrictions due to COVID-19, the status of flights to Cambodia, and the necessary documentation required for re-entry into Thailand.

-Urgent:-Latest-annoucement-by-Civil-Aviation-Autho.html Although this is concerning: "Please note that, according to our latest information, Cambodian authorities and hospitals are unable to issue a medical certificate regarding COVID-19 unless the traveler has shown symptoms and has tested negative."

"Please note that these requirements do not apply to land border crossings. According to our latest information on 19 March 2020, land border crossings are still possible without requiring medical certificate or travel insurance. However, each land border crossing may change its requirements without prior notice."

It is POSSIBLE that Thai immigration is going to announce something soon, I have seen a purported document that there are going to be special extensions for a list of countries which includes the UK, even if they can't get a letter from their embassy (it specifically mentions this). This document has apparently circulated around visa agents/lawyers, dated the 18th. This is total hearsay and the devil is in the details though.

I will call Air Asia tomorrow to ask what the situation is

Better read this. Need test no older than 72 hours and proof of a health insurance policy worth $100,000 in coverage.

"AXA cares for you with travel coverage of the Corona virus (COVID-19).

• Can request to postpone the coverage date if affected by the Coronavirus.

• Cover medical expense during overseas trip included the illness from Coronavirus, all plans and all destinations

• Cover follow-up treatment in Thailand with a maximum of 14 days * by receiving treatment within 12 hours after returning to Thailand in case of illness with Coronavirus."

Yes, this is extremely important to note. If anyone doesn't have insurance that meets those requirements, i have found that AXA covers COVID-19 with their travel insurance from Thailand. Would need to take out their Emerald plan which gives 4,000,000 Baht ($100,000) for medical expenses - a 2 week trip to Cambodia with this plan is about 2000 baht. Again, need to speak to them to confirm if this is definitely going to be accepted at immigration

Same for me guys, my visa extension expires 31st March. It seems that most borders are closed at this stage. I was advised to contact immigration regarding the situation, not sure if it will help, bit at least it's something. Don't want to get blacklisted for over staying, at the same time there are few places to go. Definitely don't want to go home either. If Cambodia hasn't closed its borders then great. Let me know if that's the case. We are all in this together, hopefully something can be resolved soon.

Yeah i need to decide on this quick. There is still the option of flying back home to the UK, which wasn't the plan, but if it needs to be then so be it. But I'd rather not go back to the UK right now with all this going on - i'm hearing of so many friends of friends coming down with symptoms, and when I look at the stats I think going back there right now is a stupid idea

Just found this article which was written on the 16th. "Last week he moved to ban "foreigners traveling from" Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the U.S., effective March 17. He later extended the restrictions to Iran. On Saturday, he released a further statement urging Cambodians not to visit the targeted countries." --- "Nationals from the six countries who have not been in their homelands for more than 14 days can enter Cambodia but must show proof of their whereabouts during the two-week period,"

It was just that I saw there are Air Asia flights running from Bangkok to Phnom Penh that made me think the borders aren't closed. But maybe they are though and this is the crucial bit of info that i have failed to pick up on...

As far as I know now.. all borders are closed. But that will means lots of people here stuck. So I am sure there will be an announcement of some sort that we can all just extend

It's possible that between now and the end of the month they may make an announcement that will help out those in a tricky situation. Don't forget there is also the option to extend a tourist visa for a further (final) 7 days for 1900 baht, if you haven't already, which will buy you more time to see how things pan out.

"Stuck" as in not being able to go home? I think they will not be impressed if you mean not being able to get new tourist visa.

It would be a good thing if immigration would be lenient, but don't count on it.

I’m 100% in the same boat dude. Let’s work together and figure it out.
