I’ve got a non-O visa expired last December and currently in my 2nd 60 days covid extension. Do you guys think I can still apply for a re-entry permit?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquires about the possibility of applying for a re-entry permit with an expired Non-O visa and while currently on a second 60-day COVID extension. Responses indicate that, in theory, it is possible to apply for a re-entry permit to keep the extension valid upon leaving Thailand. However, it's suggested to consider the complications involved in re-entering the country, such as insurance requirements, obtaining a certificate of entry, and quarantine protocols. One commenter advises the poster to directly consult the Immigration office for clarification on their specific case.

Good Luck, the O/P appears to have gotten his answer I can't see any more useful stuff to be added. There is more than enough resources out on the inter-web to read up on how to qualify and how to apply for both permanent residence and/or thai citizenship.

Maybe you can apply for re-entry permit..
Still, you are on extension based on "unable to travel due to Covid". My personal opinion is that you had better check the Immigration office if you really can get a re-entry permit and come back on that extension when "you can travel".

>Do you guys think I can still apply for a re-entry permit?
In *THEORY*, you can, however:
1. It'll keep your current extension of stay "alive" when you leave; in this case, the 60 day extension of stay stamp.
2. To enter Thailand, you'll have to re-jump through all the hoops of insurance, getting a certificate of entry, and a 15 day quarantine
Honestly, I don't think it's cost effective to get a re-entry permit, just apply for a new Non-O before you enter Thailand.
you are a little mis-informed about residency BUT this isn't the group for questions about it. :/
You have to be on 3 years of UNBROKEN extensions of stay and you need to legally work here making the minimum salary required by your nationality, paying into the thai social security system , filing thai tax, etc
I don't think it's cost effective to get the re-entry permit.
1. During the 15 days in quarantine, you can't leave quarantine to get the extension of stay. 2. A re-entry permit is 1K THB. A new visa is about 2K THB (or thereabouts, in local currency).
My advice: Leave, apply for the single entry Non-O visa when you apply for your Certificate of Entry, and then return on the visa, it'll make life much easier for you.

Were you already ON a yearly extension from a Non-O
before you went to the covid extension OR were you on a 90 day entry stamp? I ask because the years start counting from the FIRST yearly extension, not the 90 day entry and the covid extensions.
Get a new Non-O visa when you're out of the country and then apply for the year when you get back after you go thru quarantine.
I didn’t get any year extension yet. I came on 90 days and stayed 1 year because amnesty, family extension and covid extension. I understand know it doesn’t make any sense to pay for a re-entry permit. Thank you guys.
, then you didn't even start accruing time toward applying for permanent resident yet.. The 90 day entry and the free amnesty, the embassy extension and/or the covid extensions don't count toward it.
As I said, get a new Non-O when you're out of the country come back, apply for the year extension THEN start counting down the time :)
